Can you auto-trade with Vision?

Auto-trading has become more and more popular, especially as Crypto grows in popularity due to the easily accessible trading bots available.

While Vision's current state of design is aimed at human users, TradingView does allow alert configuration options such as webhooks that allow for signals to be converted into triggers for your bot. While this sounds easy, you must use caution and understand not only how Vision operates, but how TradingView's alert system performs.

  1. Vision does not follow a trend. While your bot may perform very well during trend moves, it can diminish during sideways movements if you're not utilizing any other form of triggers for on/off control. It is highly recommended to avoid jumping straight into using a bot. Start with paper trading and build a strategy around the limitations of the bot, Vision, and TradingView's alert system.
  2. Never setup alerts for a automated system that has no means of confirmation for any other option than "Once per bar close" for the TradingView alert option frequency. You can read this article for an in-depth reason on why: Why do signals flash or disappear?
  3. When you create alerts in TradingView for any indicator as well as Vision, the alert locks to the indicator AND chart settings at the time of creation. If you change your settings at any time AFTER creating the alert, the alert does not auto-update. It will still process and behave as if your setup is exactly as it was during the initial creation of the alert. Keep this in mind when you're receiving alerts, but your Vision signals on chart do not match what you're being alerted of.
  4. The commonly available bots are not able to chain events to provide confirmation that we recommend utilizing with Vision. Touching back on caution #1, you cannot easily create confirmation filters for signals such as some described in our tips series.

In the end the short answer is: Yes, you can auto-trade with Vision, BUT it is not a set it and forget it system. You need to stay on-top of when to allow the bot to trade and when not to. As Vision grows we will be implementing more and more settings/updates to help assist the bot side of trading.
